Common Questions

Fees & Funding FAQs

Answers to the questions patients most frequently ask about fees, insurance, and payment.

Are the surgical fees all-inclusive? +
Yes. Our surgical package fees are designed to be fully inclusive — covering Mr Hussain’s surgical fee, the anaesthetist, your hospital stay, the implant, physiotherapy during your admission, and post-operative outpatient follow-ups. There should be no unexpected charges. If any additional costs apply to your specific case (for example, if an extended stay is needed), these will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
Do I need a GP referral to see Mr Hussain? +
No — you can self-refer directly by contacting Wendy Richards, Mr Hussain’s secretary. However, if you are using health insurance, your insurer may require a GP referral letter before they will authorise treatment. We recommend checking with your insurer first. A GP referral letter can also be helpful as it contains useful medical history for Mr Hussain to review.
Why do the surgical fees show a range rather than a fixed price? +
The final fee depends on several individual factors: the type of implant selected, the hospital where surgery takes place, the complexity of your case, and whether you require a day-case admission or an overnight stay. After your consultation, Mr Hussain will give you a precise, all-inclusive quotation. The ranges shown on this page are based on published indicative prices at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital’s Woodlands Suite and comparable private providers.
What if my insurance does not cover the full cost? +
In some cases there may be a small shortfall between what your insurer pays and Mr Hussain’s fee. This is rare where fee-assured arrangements apply. We will always be transparent about any difference before you commit to treatment, so you are never surprised by an unexpected bill.
Is revision surgery more expensive than primary joint replacement? +
Yes, generally. Revision surgery is more complex, takes longer, and typically requires specialist implants such as cones, sleeves, or augments to manage bone loss. The hospital stay is usually longer. As a result, fees are higher than for primary joint replacement. Mr Hussain will review your imaging and provide a detailed, personalised quote after assessing your specific situation.
How quickly can I be seen and have surgery? +
Most patients are seen for an initial consultation within days of contacting us. If surgery is recommended and you decide to proceed, Mr Hussain’s team aims to schedule your operation within a matter of weeks, subject to your health assessment and theatre availability. This is one of the most valued advantages of private care.
