Common Questions

Booking FAQs

Do I need a GP referral to see Mr Hussain? +
You can self-refer as a private patient — a GP referral is not always required. However, a referral letter is helpful as it provides Mr Hussain with your relevant medical history and investigation results. If you do not have a referral, please mention this when contacting Wendy and she will advise accordingly.
How quickly can I get an appointment? +
Mr Hussain is currently accepting new patients and appointments are usually available within a few weeks. Wendy will advise on the earliest available slot at your preferred hospital when you contact her.
Which hospital should I choose? +
All three hospitals offer excellent facilities. Your choice may depend on your insurer's approved hospital list, your location, or your preference for a particular hospital's environment. Wendy can advise which hospitals are covered by your insurer and help you find the most convenient option.
Will my insurer cover the consultation fee? +
Most private health insurers cover consultation fees once you have pre-authorisation. Please contact your insurer before booking to obtain authorisation and a reference number. If you are unsure, Wendy can help you confirm your cover.
Can I have a video or telephone consultation? +
In some circumstances a video consultation may be appropriate, for example for an initial discussion or follow-up review. However, for a first assessment involving examination and imaging review, an in-person appointment is strongly recommended. Please mention your preference when contacting Wendy.
How long will the consultation take? +
A new patient consultation with Mr Hussain typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes. This allows sufficient time for a thorough history, examination, imaging review, and a full discussion of your options. Please allow extra time for any pre-appointment paperwork or imaging at the hospital.
What happens after my consultation? +
Following your consultation, Mr Hussain will write to your GP with a summary of findings and recommendations. If surgery is recommended, Wendy will guide you through the next steps including pre-operative assessment and scheduling. There is never any pressure to proceed — the decision is entirely yours.
